Installing information boards by the Drava River

Information boards presenting the natural values of the Drava and the reconstruction works aimed at their preservation are displayed at two locations along the river.

The aim of the habitat rehabilitations implemented in the Lankóc Forest is to improve the water management of the area during the drought period, thus preserving the species richness of the forest and grassland associations in the area by retaining water. As part of a complex habitat development, a patch of alien black locust in the forest has been replaced by natural tree species, and artificial nests and nesting boxes have been introduced into younger forest stands to help the reproduction of black storks and bats. The information board presenting the implemented habitat developments is near the Lankóc Forest House, on the bank of a small abandoned gravel pit.

River regulating works, no longer able to fulfill their original role are being elimintaed in the main riverbed of the Drava, restoring the free flow of the river and the restorating its natural processes.

With the reconnection of the side-branch near Heresznye, the ecological status of the surrounding habitats will be improved, and the degradation of the Drava riverbed will be reduced. An information board presenting the implementations between 2021 and 2023 serves visitors resting at Vízvár, in the water tour camp site by the river.
