The on-site work for the reconnection of the Heresznye side branch is progressing according to the plans
In the lower section in Croatia, the widening of the riverbed and the formation of its cross-section have been completed, while in the upper section, the clearing of the path from woody vegetation is underway.
The completion of the fieldwork is expected in the second week of March. The length of the side branch to be restored is approximately 1 km, with a width of 5-15 meters, and water coverage is expected for a significant portion of the year. As a result of the water entering the side branch, further rapid formation of the riverbed will occur, and meanwhile, the groundwater level in the surrounding riparian forests will rise, initiating the improvement of the forest ecosystem condition.
