The WISEDRAVALIFE project has started!

While the first months was spent mostly with administrative tasks – we signed agreements with the partner organizations and reviewed the regulations –  we have also begun to implement the tasks undertaken: we chose the inundation modelling subcontractor of the Lankóci Forest and the digital terrain modelling subcontractor. We went to Austria for a study trip where we were inspired by the results of the river restoration work on the Upper Drava and the Salzach River.

Of course, most of the work is still ahead of us, as the project lasts until summer 2023. We are very excited about the results of collecting data from the conditions of the Drava river basin and sediment, and the river models based on it. Based on the results of these models, we will determine where the first rehabilitation interventions should take place.

During the winter ahead, field work will also be started: we will install the artificial nests for black storks and nesting boxes for bat species in the Lankóci Forest.
