Owing to the evaluation of the findings of ordered studies and the consultations of project partners, the side branch at village Heresznye will be reconnected to the main-branch of river Drava in the framework of the project. Cutting through a short section of earthbank, the water flow through Heresznye branch will be possible again.

This have a dual purpose. The naturalness of surrounding areas will be improved due to permanent water flow, especially those of Natura 2000 habitats. Dividing the water of Drava into two braches results in a slower flow, a better water management and prevents further riverbed incision.
As the selected side-branch lies partly in Croatia and partly in Hungary, both the indirect and direct advantages of the development will be experienced in both countries.
