Demolition of upper and lower Vejti artefacts
At the end of October 2022, demolition of river regulation artefacts in the main branch of Drava near upper and lower Vejti was completed.
The artefacts were chosen based on previous measurments and the aim of their demolition was to support the free flow of the river and the improvement of the floodplain vegetation's water supply. The lower Vejti artefact prevented water flow to a former side branch that consequently filled up significantly. The demolition allows more water to flow to the side branch even at lower water levels, improving the condition of ecosystems near the side branch. The upper Vejti artefact was built parallel to the river bank, its demolition gives an opportunity to restore natural river dynamics.
