Educational toolkit has been completed

A gap-filling educational toolkit was made about the past, present and future of our rivers.

The educational toolkit developed for use in Hungarian higher education is the first summary that provides an overview of the condition, sustainable use and vision of the large rivers in the Carpathian Basin. The chapters of the volume were written and proofread by experts in each field, and edited by WWF Hungary.

The material presents the large rivers of the Carpathian Basin, the characteristic habitats along them and the land uses applied there. It describes the history of flood control and river regulation, as well as the effects on the river system and their consequences. It discusses the possibilities of sustainable water and landscape management in detail and the effects of changes in them. It deals with ways to involve stakeholders and analyze the related policy background.

The publication is intended primarily for higher education actors, especially university professors active in water-related disciplines, providing an opportunity to expand the horizons and examples of their fields with up-to-date and sustainability-oriented materials.
